Kalindekafe said the band will now be led by veteran musician Peter Chidzanja Nkhoma, popularly known as ‘Chechule’, who also sang the then sensational Tumbuka piece Amolotoni derived from the Tumbuka cultural songs.

“The relaunch of the band is a commitment by the farm towards promotion of local music as well as instilling a Christmas mood in Malawians as the celebration is around the corner,” he said.

According to Kalindekafe, the new band comprises three faces: singing using electric equipment, traditional dances and acoustic equipment.

“Traditional dances to be featured during performances will include gule wamkulu featuring ‘gologolo’ and m’bwiza, among other dances,” he said.

On his part, Nkhoma said he has accepted the challenge to lead the band, saying during auditions the band picked those talented in music and traditional dances to revive the outfit.

“The mission is to give real music to the society that will educate, inform and entertain music lovers traditionally,” he said.
